You will be staying at 3 star hotel in Lhasa and guest house at some place while driving to Lhasa. All rooms are on twin-shared basis. Single bedroom will be arranged on request and will cost additional.
Breakfast will be provide during tour. We will take Lunch at local restaurants can be arranged while driving and dinner you can take at the hotel restaurant. There will also be welcome dinners taking place for guests. Authentic Tibetan and Continental meals are common choices in the Tibetan menu.
Kathmandu Lhasa Overland Tour is an easy tour. Travelers who can sit 5-6 hours a day on an uphill and downhill drive will consider this trip fulfilling and enjoyable. It is a good idea to prepare for the tour by jogging and exercising regularly at least for a month prior undertaking the trip. Touring in Tibet should be relatively easy for those who have experience in trekking in high altitudes. Determination, good physical health and positive attitude are good preconditions for a successful accomplishment of the trek. Past hiking experience in high altitude would definitely be an asset but no particular technical skills are required for this trip. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Utmost Adventure before booking the trip for their own safety reasons.
The best time for Tibet cultural tour is during Autumn, Spring, Summer (February to December) and The temperature is moderate and guarantees amazing views throughout the trip.
Day 01: Kathmandu (1300) – Kyirung Border (2800m) – 145km:
Our staff will pick up from your hotel in Kathmandu in the morning and then we will drive along small mountain road to the border at Nepalese side; on the way you can enjoy the waterfall, river, gorges, and forest. Finally, we will arrive at the border (Nepal Side). Overnight at Guesthouse.
Day 02: Kyirong (2800m) – Pekutso – Old Dingri (4300m) – 230Km:
After the breakfast, completion of the border formalities in Nepal and Tibet side. We travel onward to the highest plateau of the world; it offers beautiful Tibetan landscape that you can feel of standing on the roof of the world. While driving we can see breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including Mt Xishapagma (8012M) and Mt Cho Oyu (820. From TINGRI, one can enjoy the magnificence of Mt. Everest (8,848 M). Overnight at Guest House.
Day 03: Old Dingri –Lhatse-Shigatse (3900m) – 300Km:
You will enjoy a great view of Mount Everest from Old Dingri and continue driving through friendship highway, passing the highest pass called Gyatso la at the elevation of 5248m, seeing beautiful prayer flags and continue driving towards Shigatse, pass by Lhatse county and then continue to Shigatse at the distance of 150Km. You will enjoy seeing beautiful Tibetan farmer villages with their beautiful Tibetan traditional houses with prayer flags on the roof top. Overnight at Guest House.
Day 04: Shigatse-Gyangtse (3950m) – 90km:
You will start your tour at around 9am from your hotel and visit Tashi Lhunpo monastery which is the seat of the Penchen Lama and it is the largest Gelukpamonatery in the western Tibet, known as Tsang region. After visiting Tashi Lhunpo, you will be driving to Gyangtse. Have lunch in Gyangtse and then Visit Palchoe monastery and Kubum Pagoda stupa. In the afternoon, explore the old town of Gyangtse. Overnight at Guest House.
Day 05: Gyangtse-Yamdrok lake-Lhasa (3650m) -270km:
You will start your tour at around 9Am from your hotel and then drive towards Lhasa via 3 big mountain passes, Simila, Karo La, Kampa La, respectively. Karola is the highest pass among them which is over 5000 Mts with it’s most beautiful glaciers, beautiful Yamdrok lake emerged as coral color from the top of Kampala pass. You will have your lunch at Nakartse country which is just between the Yamdrok lake and Karola glacier. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 06: Lhasa Full day Sightseeing:
After breakfast processed for full days Sightseeing of Potala Palace, it is one of the most beautiful monuments in Tibet with 1,000 room and 13 stores to explore this is probably the most popular tourist attraction in Tibet and Jokhang temple. Jokhang temple which was constructed back on 07th century attracts hundreds of tourists every years. This temple has a very huge Sakyanumi Buddha statue and is considered the holiest place in Tibet .Barkhor Market Palace, Barkhor Street is the centrifugal tide of pilgrim then you can see the several small, fascinating temples into the route. Overnight at hotel.
Day 07: Lhasa Full day Sightseeing:
After breakfast full day sightseeing of Sera Monastery Sera Monastery specialized in the fundamental precepts of Buddhism. Sera survived the ravage of the Cultural Revolution with the light damage although many of the lesser colleges were destroyed. Drepung Monastery – Drepung Monastery was one of the world’s largest monasteries it was founded in 1416. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 08: Lhasa to Airport:
After the breakfast fly bank to Kathmandu or to your onward destination. Flying back to Kathmandu offers beautiful an hour trans-Himalayan flight that takes us over Everest (8,848m), Kanchenjunga (8,536m) and other Himalayan peaks and glaciers.
