Mount Kailash Pilgrimage Tour
Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu. Welcome clients at the airport and transfer to hotel and check-in. A short briefing on the program after refreshment.
Day 02: Kathmadu. Process on Tibet visa & permit and sightseeing tour in Kathmandu Valley.
Day 03: Kathmandu-Nyalam we depart early in the morning from our hotel on the famous Arniko Highway. Driving towards frontier checks post of Kodari will take approximately 5 hour while drive to Nyalam will take us another 2/3 hrs. Overnight at guesthouse or camp.
Day 04: Acclimatization day.
Day 05: Nyalam to Nyalamthong – We will drive approximately 11 Kilometers to the Milarepa Caves.
Day 06: Nyalam thong- Pekhutso Lake: It takes 5/6 hours and overnight at camp. Distance: 188 kms from Nyalam, Altitude: 4600m.
Day 07: Pekhutso Lake – Saga 30 km drives and overnight at camp.
Day 08: Saga – Parayang: Continuous drive across the vast Tibetan plateau, heading west on the left bank of the Matseng Tsangpo River through the villages of Shue. Overnight camp at Paryang.
Day 09: Parayang to Mayum River: As usual, we cross the Parayang River and enroute, we may come across the occasional herd of wild asses (kang) and some nomadic tribes. Overnight camp at Mahim River.
Day 10: Mayum River- Horchu: Continue tour with crossing Mayum La Pass and viewing Kailash & Manasarovar Lake in the far distance. Overnight camp nearby Manasarovar Lake.
Day 11: Horchu - Holy Manasarovar Lake: A circumambulation will be done by jeep around the Holy Lake Manasarovar. Overnight camp at riverside of Chiu Gomba.
Day 12: Chiu Gomba: All day for excursion tour to the monasteries in the surroundings of Chiu Gompa and overnight camp at Chiu Gompa.
Day 13: Chiu Gompa - Darchen: Crossing a bridge over the side stream that flows down from the Mt. Kailash, we contour upwards making a dramatic exit from the river valley on to the plain land. From this section, we have a fine view of the Rakshas Tal glistening at a distance as we pass along Mani Walls decorated with carved yak skulls. Trekking further for about 1 to hours we reach to the village of Darchan situated along the edge of the plain. Overnight stay at guesthouse.
Day 14: Darchen – Diraphuk: Start circumambulation of Mt. Kailash andovernight camp at Diraphuk 4909m.
Day 15: Diraphuk – Zuthulphuk: Crossing Drolma La Pass Pass 5,636m sometimes a risky and hard job and after 5 minutes walk down to reach at Gauri Kund before Zhutal Phuk Gompa 4835 m. Overnight camp at Zuthulphuk ( Miraculous Cave where Milarepa stayed for years)
Day 16: Zuthulphuk – Darchen: 12 km walk Rakshas Tal (Demon Lake) is appearing on the route and overnight camp at Tirthapuri.
Day 17: Tirthapuri. Exploring tour to Pon Monastery and surroundings and back to Tirthpuri for overnight at camp.
Day 18: Tirthpuri – Toling: A remote area is remarkable to this tour and exploring these surroundings overnight stay at guesthouse.
Day 19: Toling - Tsapering Gompa: Visit the 10th century's Guge Kingdom a unique spot of the tour and drive back to Toling for overnight stay at guesthouse.
Day 20: Toling – Shangsa: All those travelers who happen to make their tour in this part of the area will experience amazinginly.
Day 21: Shangsa to Mansarovar Lake overnight at camp.
Day 22: Mansarovar to Paryang and overnight at camp.
Day 23: Paryang to Saga and overnight at camp.
Day 24: Saga drive to Nyalam and overnight at guesthouse.
Day 25: Nyalam drive to the border or Nepal/Tibet crossing friendship brigde Kodari /Kathmandu overnight at hotel.
Day 26: Drive to airport for final departure.
VISA PROCEDURES:
Those travelers visiting Tibet necessitate special travel permits only obtainable by approved travel agents. Arriving tourists in Kathamndu with Chinese visas issued by Embassies in their own countries regarded as invalid in entering into Tibet. Clothes items:
Specially warm cloths are strongly recommended to bring such as
jacket, sweater, shirt with full sleeves, high neck, trousers,
tracksuits, thermal underwear, waterproof and windproof jackets,
warm cap (monkey cap) sunglasses and hat, search lights with
additional bulbs and batteries, ultra violet sun cream, lips balm,
essential items of toilet.
The Road
The land is dry and the road not paved but wide and graveled. Sometime landslide may happen but there is no need to worry, because “Chinese Army road builders” are on duty every few Km. The drive to Mt. Kailash is an incredible trip, you will be able to see the world highest Himalayas in the southern range, you will drive in the world highest plateau, meet Tibetan nomads, pilgrims and chanting monks.
Wheather conditions in Tibet:
The Tibet climate is undubtedly dry, cold and windy. In fluctuations of the weather is difficult to forecast. It is strongly requested to wear a pair of comfortable walking shoes in this tour. Be sure to bring necessary personal toilet items, since these items are not easily available during the routes.
Health and medicine:
Due to the unavibility of the hospitals and medical services
enroute, we strongly recommend to the all our respective
clients to bring their own first aid kit. The following
problems may occur during the tour/trek, which we make
aware of our clients on it before happening something bad.
- An upset stomach most commonly caused due to unhygienic food and contaminated drinking water. It is a usual ailment and to avoid such kind of problems everyone should pay specific attention on own initiative in prevention on it.
- A dry cough, catching cold, sore throat are known as common symptoms in the route that have the high possibility to the chest infection. The precautions could be taken by endeavouring not breathing in cold air directly though the mouth. To renounce the smoking would be the best preventive support to the travelers.
- Muscle strains, sometimes (not often) multiple sclerosis, foot sore and blisters are possibly common problems on this tour. A mere walking training with the comfortable footwear definitely be the effective medications as well as helpful in prevention of such problems.
- A fatal sickness normally may occur by the random altitude ascension known as Acute Mountain Sickness(AMS). So it is necessarily important to the every travelers who ascends more than 3000m should have proper knowledge of acclimatization. The most common symptoms of AMS are headache, dizziness, vomiting, irregular breathing, loss of appetite, nausea, unusual weariness, difficulty in sleeping, feeling fatigued. Immediate descent or evacuation to lower altitute is the only natural as well as most effective cure. An intake of sufficient amount of fluid will help to combat with such problem.
Food and beverage:
Our well-trained cooks from the Hotel Management and Tourism Training Centre (HMTTC) are always aware of cooking the varieties of hygienic food to avoid such above-mentioned problems. We serve vegetarian meal to our Indian fellow travellers besides this we would recommend them to bring their own supplement of the food like dry fruits, nuts, chocolates, and cookies for their personal interests.
Eqiupment:
We always supply best quality equipment to our clients as our tents are made of heavily coated water proof fabric and inner fly sheet are made of excellent quality of cottons while for the floor we use 100% water proof nylon tarpaulin. The poles of the tents are made of stong alumium. Even if the each capacity of the tents is normally 3 persons but we allow for 2 persons to ease and comfort our clients. We are providing our high quality sleeping bags and mattresses with a capacity of –20 degree Celsius.
Important pre-departure information:
We have been traveling in the most remote parts of the world since long time. Most of the time we will be away from the modern civilization. No doubt the group will overnight stay either in a guesthouses or in the treks-styled tented camp. We must be well equipped. The dinning tent is no doubt our meeting place and a toilet and shower tent will be pitched near by. Every morning's bed tea served by kitchen boy should construed clients as wake up calls. Breakfast will be served in the dinning tent and during the day packed lunch will be served. Our usual time for the bed tea at 7 a.m. break fast 8 a.m. then our Sherpa staff will dismantle the tents in order to pack up the equipment. Pack lunch will be served around 1 or 2 p.m. then in the eveining 6 p.m. will be the teatime and dinner around 8 p.m. This time will be definitely local time (Chinese Time).
Risk & Liabitiy:
We, on behalf of the Across The Himalayas Treks Pvt. Ltd always subject to put its every efforts to make our clients' journey perfect and wonderful. However, all the programs in Tibet are conducted strictly under the rules and regulations abide by the Tibet Tourism Bureau.
The Acorss the Himalayas Treks as well as our Tibetan Counterpart shall not be responsible for any changes and alterations in the itinerary due to unavoidable circumstances such as landslide, road blockage, flood, snow, political unrest, cancellation of flight, delay arrival, sicknesses or accidents. Any extra cost occurring because of such a circumstance shall be borne by the clients on the spot. It is strongly advised to our clients to be insured against medical and personal accidents.
Currency exchange:
Chinese Yuan is the prevailing currency in Tibet. Anyone can change this currency at the counter of the Nepal/Tibet border. The rates is always fluctuates due the foreign exchange currency rules and regulations.
